4/11 Day 25

Today was our coldest day so far. We had been warned that the closer we’d get to Roan Mountain, the colder it would get. Roan Mountain has been known to have the coldest temperatures on the southern AT. We had a sunny day but it was incredibly windy. Our biggest hike of the day was Unaka Mountain. We stopped at Clyde Smith Shelter for the night. The forecast was for 20 degree weather overnight so we slept in all of our clothing to stay warm. We hiked 22 miles, making it our easiest over 20 mile hike thus far.
