4/24 Day 38

Today we hiked 27.5 miles to a primitive campsite north of Helvey’s Mill Shelter. Our day started with being dropped back off at Walker’s Gap. Ron and Naomi drove all seven of the hikers to June’s home before for a big breakfast of waffles, egg casserole, coffee and juice. The beginning of our day was hiked in snow but by lunch it had warmed up enough to melt any snow left at lower elevations. We hiked over an interstate and stopped at Helvey’s Mill Shelter for water and to make dinner. We hiked another three miles at sunset to a primitive campsite on the ridge.
