5/2 Day 46

We woke up early today after a great nights sleep. Today we crossed the Blue Ridge Parkway for the first time and would cross back over it another six times by the end of the day. After climbing Cove Mountain, we had lunch and hiked down to Jennings Creek. At Jennings Creek, we took a two hour break with five other hikers. The opportunity to swim on one of our hottest days so far was so refreshing. Three of the other hikers even found a hitch into the closest town to buy beer and refreshments. We hiked 20.8 miles total to make it to Bryant Ridge Shelter, a three-story, 20 person shelter.
