Today we summitted The Priest at 4,063 feet and climbed down 3,100 feet to the Tye River. From the river, we climbed 2,900 feet to Three Ridges Mountain. We had lunch at Maupin Shelter and saw the Mau-Har Trail, a popular blue-blaze trail that can take hikers on a shorter trail to the summit of Three Ridges. We climbed to Cedar Cliffs and Humpback Rock, a popular place for bouldering. We crossed the Blue Ridge Parkway for the last time today. We were moving slow at the end of the day but we found a primitive camping spot along the trail that we shared with Beowulf and Kittens. This camping spot would put us only 9 miles out from Waynesboro. We hiked 25.5 miles for the day.
