We got up early today and hiked the 6.5 miles to Delaware Water Gap, PA before the Saturday post office closed. It stormed late into the night and we hiked most of the morning in tall, wet grass. Even without rain, our pants, shoes and packs were soaked. We hiked up an old road up to Mt. Minsi and had lookouts over Delaware Water Gap and the Delaware River from Lookout Rock and Council Rock. We stayed the night at Church of the Mountain. The church made up a bunk room with showers, living room and ran on donations only. The hostel had been operating since the 70s. What a great service for hikers! We spent the afternoon hanging out with other hikers and visiting The Village Farmer. The Village Farmer was known for their fresh fruit pies and pot pies. Only negative to DWG was there lackn of a grocery store in town and the inability to get to one in the neighboring town. We were forced to make a short resupply at the gas station. We were able to do laundry though and got enough food from our mail drop to last us.
