The skies threatened to rain all day today. Our day started out flat but became increasingly hillier as the day went on. We had lunch at Pine Brook Swamp Shelter and watched the large storm on radar head our direction. Just as we hit the town of Canaan, it began to rain. We took shelter from the rain at a local high school then hiked into Falls Village. With impending storms and no hope to get to the next shelter before they hit, we had to skip a swim in a set of waterfalls and find a place to set up camp. The rain didn’t hit hard until right after dinner and we headed to bed early. It would continue to downpour the entire night through the next morning allowing for rain to mist through the rain fly and onto us during the night. We hiked 19.8 miles.
