6/18 Day 93

Ruthie made us breakfast in the morning before dropping us off at the post office to pick up our package. Today would mark our 3 month anniversary on the trail! We hiked 2,500 feet in elevation gain to reach Mt. Greylock, Massachusetts’ highest peak. We enjoyed lunch at Bascom Lodge on the summit and climbed the War Memorial Tower. We hiked down to Mt. Williams and over the Hoosic River in Williamstown. We took a break at a school and watched a elementary baseball game before we started our big climb up to the Vermont border. Right before the border we saw our first porcupine! We passed the border and the entrance to the Long Trail which we would hike along with for the next 105 miles. We camped 1/2 mile north of the border at a primitive site near a stream. The bugs were at an all time worst and although it was a warm evening, we made a fire to keep them away. We hiked 19.2 miles.
