7/9 Day 114

We were anxious to start our last day of hiking in New Hampshire. The morning was spent passing numerous streams, lakes and ponds. We climbed Mt. Success and crossed the New Hampshire-Maine border! We ate lunch at the first shelter in Maine and enjoyed reading register entries from other northbound hikers who were just as elated to be in our final state. After lunch we climbed Mt. Carlo, Goose Eye Mountain. The AT summited three peaks on Goose Eye Mountain (west, east and north peaks) with majority of the climbs above the trees and on exposed ridges. We spent the night at Full Goose Shelter and hiked 14.5 miles for the day.
